Democracy Now host Amy Goodman interviews Occupy Wall Street activist Cecily McMillan and her National Lawyers Guild attorney Meghan Maurus. McMillan was arrested by police during a demonstration in New York City on March 17, 2012, marking the six-month anniversary of the beginning of the Occupy Wall Street movement. She suffered a seizure and a broken rib during the arrest, and bruises are visible on several parts of her body. She states that she was not allowed to contact her family or a lawyer while she was held by the police, despite frequently repeated requests, and the police would not inform her of the charges against her.
